This building is of particular historical significance for IDC as in 1998, when the Council for Higher Education accredited IDC’s very first academic degree, all the students and faculty squeezed into the original hangar and performed the debut of IDC’s anthem.

In the proclamation of the establishment of IDC Herzliya, it was declared that IDC was intended to be a house of learning for residents of the region and for young Diaspora Jews.
It was this vision that led to the founding of the Raphael Recanati International School in 2001. The school opened around the same time that the Second Intifada broke out, and in its early days, only 30 students enrolled. Today, the RRIS is home to approximately 2,000 students from 90 countries.
