We are celebrating the Interdisciplinary Center Herzliya’s 10th anniversary this year. IDC’s story is that of pioneers in Israeli academia. Ten years ago, we received the keys to a dilapidated army base and made a single request of the government: Do not give us any funding. We did not yet have any donors and, as a non-profit educational institution, we were not looking for investors. We did not have money, but we had faith in the idea that the time had come to forge a new model for academia.
